John - Remain In Love

John Rittenhouse
We move from the vine language of remaining to the relationship language of remaining in Jesus' love, and we learn that this remaining happens through obedience to His commands. We see that obedience is not a transaction that earns love but a response of trust, the same way Jesus remained in His Father's love by keeping His Father's commands, and this obedience makes our joy complete. We recognize that Jesus' command to love one another means laying down our lives for our friends in the small daily decisions, not just the dramatic ones, and that remaining in His love and bearing fruit begins with trusting Him enough to obey.

John
